Counteracting inherited weapon abilities in dark cloud 2?

i am trying to build a supernova naturally, and although i believe you can buy/find a straight steal gun later in the game, i am finding it easier to just build up my weapons now, which would involve me leveling up to it trough a question shooter, which automatically gives you poverty. if i were to put on a wealth coin to it now before i build it up, would it counteract the automatic poverty and keep it from appearing since the wealth was the first ability on the gun?
